Professional Cellist Performance Portfolio

Project Overview

This project involved creating a professional performance portfolio for an experienced classical cellist seeking opportunities with orchestras, ensembles, music institutions and educational organisations.

Unlike a traditional resume, the portfolio needed to communicate both professional experience and artistic capability. The finished document brings together the client’s orchestral background, solo and recital work, chamber music experience, educational activities and selected performance links in a format that can be easily shared with potential collaborators and organisations.

The content was structured to show the depth of the client’s career while keeping the document visually refined, easy to navigate and appropriate for the classical music industry.

The Challenge

The client had extensive professional experience across several areas of classical performance, including principal level orchestral work, international engagements, solo performances, chamber music and music education.

The challenge was turning that amount of experience into something more engaging than a conventional CV without losing the professionalism expected when approaching orchestras and music institutions.

Our Approach

We developed the portfolio around clear sections that allowed each area of the client’s professional background to stand on its own while still forming one cohesive career story.

Professional experience was rewritten and organised into concise, polished copy covering orchestral performance, solo and recital work, chamber and ensemble performance and workshops and educational activity.

Selected performance videos were incorporated into the document through clickable links, giving the portfolio an additional practical purpose when being submitted for auditions, collaborations and professional opportunities.

The visual direction was deliberately more editorial than a standard resume, allowing performance imagery and career information to work together without making the document feel overly designed or difficult to navigate.
